The Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa has advised All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates from Lagos West Senatorial District in the forthcoming local government election not to disrespect democratic institutions and practices.

Obasa, who gave the warning during a meeting with the APC candidates, said this in a statement made available to journalists, on Wednesday.

Local government election in the state has been fixed to hold on Saturday, 12th July 2025, but ahead of the polls, Obasa warned candidates not to rest on the party’s laurels.

He enjoined them to maintain momentum and outreach efforts until the winners are announced.

At the meeting attended by all the APC chairmen, vice-chairmen, and councillorship candidates in the Senatorial District, the speaker said advised the candidates to prioritise the interest of the people of their areas.

“Engage with everyone in the community, regardless of their ethnic background or religion.

“Your focus should be on serving your constituents with integrity and commitment and you must have respect for democratic institutions and practices.”
