Tension was high in Sheshi Dama, a community in Bida Local Government Area of Niger State, after two brothers were brutally attacked in the early hours of Thursday, July 10, leaving one of them with a severed hand.

Zagazola Makama reports that the victims, identified as Baba Gozan and Wada Gozan from Fulani Camp in Etsugaie Village, were reportedly ambushed while visiting a female acquaintance in the area.

According to their father, Mohammed Umar, the attacker, alongside four young men from another Fulani camp in Kafa Villag, launched the assault using machetes and sticks.

The assailants have been named as Goga Maigari, Kura Maigari, Rani Maigari, and Ado Yambe.

During the attack, Baba’s right hand was completely cut off, while his brother Wada sustained deep injuries to his head and right hand.

Residents in the area quickly intervened and rushed the brothers to the General Hospital in Agaie, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The suspects reportedly fled the scene immediately after the attack and remain at large.

Police authorities confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits.

Community leaders have called for calm while urging security agencies to ensure justice is served to prevent retaliation and further breakdown of peace.
