At least three teams have been confirmed for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.

Morocco and Zambia on Saturday, became the latest countries to book their spots.

Yasmin Mrabet’s penalty following a controversial VAR decision, saw Morocco beat Senegal 1-0 to finish top of Group A.

The Atlas Lionesses ended the group stages unbeaten with seven points, ahead of Zambia on goal difference.

The Copper Queens beat DR Congo 1-0 to also secure their passage to the quarter-finals.

Racheal Kundananji’s goal in the ninth minute proved to be the winner.

Zambia will take on the Group B winners in the last eight. This could be a blockbuster clash against Nigeria, if the Super Falcons avoid defeat against Algeria on Sunday.

Morocco, on the other hand, will face the team that finishes in third position in Group B or Group C.

Senegal finished third in Group A with three points. They will now wait to see if they will progress as one of the two best-ranked third-place sides.
