A heavy flood in Jangari community, Garki Local Government Area of Jigawa State has destroyed at least 34 homes late Sunday night.

Local councillor, Malam Dayyanu Magaji Jangar, confirmed the damage during a visit by Garki local government chairman, Alhaji Adamu Hudu Kore and a team of government officials who came to sympathize with the victims.

He said the flood which leaves dozens of families trying to put their lives back together, followed hours of intense rainfall that overwhelmed the area.

“While no lives were lost, many residents have been forced out of their homes, with personal belongings and household items either soaked, damaged or completely washed away.”

Speaking during the visit, the chairman of Garki local government, Alhaji Hudu Adamu Kore, said they were there to show solidarity with his people.

He called on state emergency services and humanitarian agencies to intervene quickly, describing the moment as a difficult time for them.

Alhaji Adamu explained that efforts are already underway to provide temporary relief for those affected and urged Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency to step in with emergency assistance.
